As a wedding planner, I’m always looking for venues that feel just right—whether that means tucked into the woods, stylish and modern, or surrounded by peaceful Hill Country views. Recently, I toured (and even worked at!) three very different Austin-area venues, and each one brought something truly special. Here’s a peek at what makes them stand out, including a few helpful details on guest capacity!

🌲 Golden Pine Retreat – A Forest Dream in Smithville, TX

If you're dreaming of a weekend wedding surrounded by nature, Golden Pine Retreat is a hidden gem. Located just outside of Bastrop, this wellness retreat is now opening its peaceful, wooded space for weddings—and I had the joy of assisting with their very first one!

The property offers a cozy indoor space, a spacious deck overlooking lush greenery, and multiple outdoor gathering areas. Bridal and groomsmen suites are housed in dreamy domes (yes, domes!), making getting ready feel like part of the retreat.

Guest capacity: Around 120 guests comfortably, with room for creative outdoor setups if you’re planning a more casual or festival-style event.

🏙️ Distribution Hall – Urban Cool in East Austin

Modern couples, this one's for you! Distribution Hall is a stylish, flexible venue housed in a mid-century building that once served as Austin’s first German beer import warehouse. It now boasts a 6,250 sq-ft studio warehouse, a 2,750 sq-ft open-air hangar, and a 10,000 sq-ft courtyard that’s ideal for ceremonies, cocktail hours, or even food truck setups.

It’s located in the heart of East Austin, close to amazing bars and restaurants—perfect for an after-party or wedding weekend fun.

Guest capacity: Up to 500 guests across the entire venue. It's especially great for larger weddings or couples who want plenty of space to get creative with layout and flow.

🌿 The Vista on Seward Hill – Hill Country Elegance

Just 10 minutes from downtown Austin, The Vista offers the feel of a romantic destination wedding—without leaving the city. Perched on a scenic hilltop, the venue is surrounded by live oaks, waterfalls, and beautifully landscaped gardens, with elegant touches like fountains and chandeliers that make the space feel magical.

Whether you're planning a garden ceremony or an intimate indoor reception, it’s got the flexibility (and charm) to suit a range of styles.

Guest capacity: Up to 200 guests, with options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies and receptions.
