A Crimson Peak-Inspired Fall Wedding at the Wildflower Center in Austin | Faith & Elijah

Some weddings are especially fun to work on, and then there are weddings like Faith and Elijah's.

Their September wedding at the Wildflower Center in Austin was one of the most thoughtful, magical, and unique celebrations I've had the pleasure of helping bring to life. Inspired by Crimson Peak, one of Faith's favorite movies, their wedding vision had such a distinct personality. It was romantic, atmospheric, and full of thoughtful details that brought their inspiration to life while still feeling completely personal to them.

This wedding was also a particularly special milestone for me because they were the first couple I worked with through my updated wedding management and design elevation services.

I had the opportunity to step in a little earlier in the planning process, helping source a florist who fit their vision, refine the design, and think through ways to make the overall guest experience even more thoughtful. Faith and Elijah already had a clear vision and were creative and hands-on throughout the process, so getting to collaborate with them and bring all of their ideas together was genuinely so much fun.

And I think we absolutely nailed their vision, if I do say so myself! ;)

A wedding full of thoughtful details

What made this wedding so special wasn't just the overall look (although it was beautiful!). It was how much thought went into the experience from beginning to end.

There were so many personal touches that reflected who Faith and Elijah are and how much they care and love their people.

Guests were welcomed with clear signage, welcome drinks, and popsicles. Umbrellas were ready in case of rain (spoiler alert: we needed them!). The handmade moss-filled table numbers were such a fun detail, and the Cafe de Merritt menu was one of my favorites. It served as both the menu and the program, while also including a thank-you to their vendor team. How thoughtful and quirky is that? Swoon.

And the personal touches didn't stop there. Faith incorporated momentos from her bachelorette party as an overlay linen on the cake table. There was a fun coffee cart outside to keep the energy going throughout the evening (guest LOVED this!), a canvas painting for guests to contribute to, karaoke, and so much more.

When the weather has other plans

Of course, not everything went exactly according to plan.

We had a very tight setup window, a tiny loading dock, unexpected rain, last-minute additions, and multiple vendors managing different pieces of the experience. We even had a new coffee vendor to work into the setup.

Then it rained during guest arrival, the ceremony, and part of cocktail hour.

But here's what I loved about Faith and Elijah: they 100% leaned into it.

Instead of letting the weather take away from the day, they embraced it. The rain added a little drama and made the whole celebration feel even more magical. Faith later told me that there was a particularly dramatic clap of thunder during part of their vows, which made an already meaningful moment even more memorable.

Behind the scenes, there was plenty happening to keep everything moving. I staged the couple's inventory ahead of time with my assistant under the one shady spot in the parking lot (sometimes you just have to work with what you've got!), found workarounds when access got complicated, adjusted vendor placement and timing, and worked through the last-minute additions.

There were a lot of moving pieces, but my focus was always on keeping things running smoothly and making sure the couple and their guests could enjoy the experience without having to worry about everything happening behind the scenes.

What makes a wedding memorable

One of my favorite things about Faith and Elijah was how kind, chill, and easygoing they were throughout the process. That made such a difference, especially with a tight schedule and a lot of hands-on coordination with the venue and vendor team.

You could tell how deeply they cared about their guests, each other, and the people helping make their wedding happen. Honestly, this couple blew me away.

And the feedback throughout the night spoke volumes. Guests were raving about the wedding, vendors were sharing how much they appreciated working with the team, and most importantly, Faith and Elijah were SO happy with how everything turned out.

That's what I want couples to remember about their wedding planning experience. The goal isn't to create a day where nothing unexpected ever happens. It's to create a celebration that feels like you, thoughtfully bring all the pieces together, and have the right people there to navigate the things that don't go according to plan.

Sometimes the most memorable moments are the ones you never could have put on a timeline.

Faith and Elijah, thank you for trusting me with such a special celebration. I had the best time working with (and celebrating!) you both, and I'm so grateful I got to be part of bringing your vision to life.

And a huge thank-you to the incredible vendor team who helped make this day what it was. It truly takes a team, and this one was a good and fun one!
