An Austin Travel Guide for Wedding Guests
Curated by a local wedding planner who loves good food, beautiful spaces, and everyday magic.
If you’re heading to Austin for a wedding (or planning one here), this guide is for you. I’ve rounded up my favorite local spots and hidden gems - the kind of places that make you feel like you really experienced Austin (and not just the touristy version - none of that here). Whether you're spending a long weekend celebrating someone you love or just looking for the coziest coffee shop to soak in your surroundings, here’s where I’d send my own friends and family.
Where to Eat (and Savor the Ambiance)
La Santa Barbacha
Some of the best tacos in town with the most relaxing outdoor ambiance. Yes, there are tons of tacos in Austin (and I’ve tried PLENTY!) but the tacos here are some of my favorites. The ingredients are fresh and you can tell it’s made with so much love.
Fareground (French Rotisserie inside)
A downtown food hall that’s actually good. I go for the French baguette sandwich from French Rotisserie - it is so simple and delicious, and I’ve tried to find many sandwich shops here in Austin. Fun fact: the Fareground was one of my first stops when my sisters and I did our Austin road trip two years prior to moving here. The Fareground is also a great spot for relaxing, people watching, and co-working.
NAM NAM (Springdale General)
A nourishing poached chicken dish from a tucked-away ghost kitchen in East Austin. Springdale General is also another great area to spend the morning or afternoon. They have tons of unique shops and an indoor and outdoor seating area to chill and relax. There’s also an amazing pilates studio here.
China Fortune or Ling Wu
China Fortune is comforting and no-frills dim sum (and believe me, I’ve searched long and hard for delicious dim sum in Austin); Ling Wu is elevated with a gorgeous setting - ideal for group dinners or a date night after wedding events. Their menu is delicious Chinese cuisine and perfect for sharing with friends and family.
Casa de Luz
Plant-based, peaceful, and deeply nourishing. They offer communal meals and optional meditation or yoga classes in a beautiful indoor-outdoor setting. They have two locations in Austin and both are so peaceful. This is my go-to place when I want a little reset: mind, body, and spirit.
Aba
Mediterranean plates and a spa-like patio that feels like a secret garden. One of my favorite dinner spots when you want something both elevated and grounded. A beautiful spot for a bachelorette dinner or rehearsal dinner as well.
The Vortex & Butterfly Bar
An artsy, eclectic outdoor space with some of the best pasta in town (from Patrizi’s). Perfect for a post-rehearsal hang or casual night out.
Radio Coffee East
Coffee, food trucks, and an easygoing Austin feel. The matcha is a go-to, and it’s great for groups or solo time.
Cheri’s Coffee
Coffee + flowers = instant joy. A sweet little gem worth visiting if you're nearby.
Arriba Abajo
Great food with a rooftop view. Casual but special - perfect for a sunset dinner or welcome party vibe.
Cosmic Coffee
Big outdoor space, rotating food trucks, and a laid-back, local favorite.
Cute Shops, Markets & Books
Mueller Farmers Market
One of my favorites (and I’ve scoured Austin for their farmer’s markets!) - fresh produce, local treats, and sweet artisan goods. Great for a relaxed Sunday stroll solo or with friends.
Take Heart
A beautifully curated East Austin shop full of thoughtful home goods, art, and gifts.
First Light Books
A charming bookstore with an on-site café - perfect for wandering or quiet time between events.
Parker + Scott
Stylish, intentional gifts and decor. Worth popping into if you're exploring the area.
Springdale Stationery Shop
For paper lovers - tucked away and full of design-forward cards and tools. Bonus: close to NAM NAM!
Music, Comedy & Local Culture
Live Music on Rainey Street
Lively, local, and full of energy. A great way to wind down after a wedding or turn the weekend into a celebration. I recommend going here on a weeknight as it can get a bit crazy on the weekends!
The Mothership & Creek and the Cave
Comedy shows that deliver. The Mothership is an Austin staple (and out of town favorite!) , and Creek and the Cave has an easygoing local feel.
Nature, Movement & Unwinding
Lady Bird Lake
Paddle boarding, scenic trails, or just hanging out in the lake - it’s a classic spot that feels like Austin’s heart.
Sculpture Falls
A beautiful hike leading to a natural swimming hole - perfect for guests who want a little adventure.
Austin Garden & Studio
A lush downtown greenspace with food trucks, lawn games, live music, and cocktails. Tucked behind Inn Cahoots on East 6th, this spot is perfect for laid-back hangouts, photo ops, or even casual post-wedding gatherings.
Casa de Luz Meditation/Yoga
Not just delicious plant-based meals - it’s also a peaceful space for yoga, sound baths, or just a quiet walk through the property.
A Weekend to Remember
Austin has a little something for everyone - foodies, nature-lovers, art seekers, the healers and feelers (ha ha), and everyone in between. If you're planning a wedding here and want your people to feel cared for from the moment they arrive, that’s where I come in. I help couples create intentional, joy-filled weekends that reflect their values and love story.
