Why I Don’t Believe in Perfect Weddings
If you're anything like the couples I work with, you're not just planning a wedding—you’re creating something intentional, something honest, something that truly reflects your values, and your unique story.
You don’t want a cookie-cutter, Pinterest-perfect wedding.
You want a wedding that feels like you.
But somewhere along the way, especially in the age of social media, between choosing the napkin color and trying to find a caterer that checks all the boxes while still staying within budget (!!), it starts to feel like… too much.
Your body gets tight.
Your mind starts to spin (and you find yourself anxious throughout the day, ugh)
And the joyful energy of planning gets replaced by pressure, performance, perfectionism (all the p’s).
Here’s the truth I’ve come to to realize, after years in the wedding industry:
There is no such thing as a perfect wedding (also, what does that even mean?!)
But there is such a thing as a peaceful one. Especially when you plan with calm and intention.
Planning a Wedding When You Tend To Get Anxious (I mean, don’t we all)
As someone who supports clients not just with logistics—but with presence and emotional grounding (hi I’m also a somatic practitioner and live and breathe this stuff!) —I see it all the time:
The decision fatigue (am I making the right decision?!?!… there is no right or wrong, just what feels aligned for you)
The people-pleasing (especially from family… exhausting!)
The self-doubt about whether you’re “doing it right” or “what will others think”
What most planners don’t talk about?
Your nervous system.
Your boundaries ie what protects your peace and mental health
Your emotional bandwidth. How you are FEELING through it all.
This is why Imperfectly Planned exists.
I believe wedding planning should feel:
Centered, not chaotic
Intentional, not performative
Sacred, not stressful
A Somatic Approach to Vendor Meetings
Did you know that how you feel in your body when meeting a vendor is just as important as what they offer?
Your body knows when a decision is aligned. It knows when something’s off. But in the rush of schedules and expectations, most couples bypass those internal cues.
In my work, we intentionally slow down.
Before a big meeting or decision, I’ll often guide couples through:
Grounding breathwork
Sensory check-ins
Empowering affirmations
Because when you’re grounded and centered, you make more aligned decisions. And you walk away from meetings with clarity—not confusion.
